About the Scholarships

The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation works closely with community supporters and generous donors to provide scholarship opportunities to seniors in the Las Cruces Public School District. The Foundation is proud to administer these scholarships in order to help students pursue their higher education goals. The scholarships range from $500 to $2000. High School Senior Scholarship Program is NOW OPEN!

Applications must be submitted by at 12:00 midnight on April 9, 2018.

A review committee will select recipients based on the information submitted by the applicant on this website. Some scholarship funds have specific eligibility requirements established by the donor. Please review the scholarship descriptions and requirements listed online carefully! The Foundation Scholarship Committee will make their selections and the recipient will be notified by email on or around May 2018. While applicants may apply for more than one scholarship, only one (1) will be awarded to an individual. The scholarship checks will be presented to the recipients at their High School’s Senior Awards Assembly.

NEW FOR 2018!!

The ANAMARIA SAMANIEGO SCHOLARSHIP IN THE ARTS: The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with the Dr. Felipe and Anamaria Samaniego Endowment Fund, has created this scholarship. It is intended that the funds will provide one $1000 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to major in the arts at any college or university in New Mexico during the Fall of 2018.

The FELIPE SAMANIEGO MD SCHOLARSHIP: The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with the Felipe Samaniego, MD Endowment Fund, has created this scholarship. It is intended that the funds will provide one $1000 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to attend any college or university in New Mexico during the Fall of 2018.

The MESILLA VALLEY MALE AGRICULTURE SCHOLARSHIP: The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. has created this scholarship in collaboration with a consortium of male Mesilla Valley Farmers. It is intended that the funds will provide one $250 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating male senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to attend New Mexico State University during the Fall of 2018.

The MESILLA VALLEY WOMAN’S AGRICULTURE SCHOLARSHIP: The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. has created this scholarship in collaboration with a consortium of female Mesilla Valley Farmers. It is intended that the funds will provide one $250 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating female senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to attend New Mexico State University during the Fall of 2018.

The BIERI FAMILY BROADCAST JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP: The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with the Bieri Family Endowment Fund, has created this scholarship. It is intended that the funds will provide one $1000 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to major in Broadcast Journalism at New Mexico State University during the Fall of 2018.

CONTINUING FOR 2018

THE DEBI ROUNDS SCHOLARSHIP:  The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. has created the Debi True Rounds Memorial Scholarship in honor of the late wife of Former Superintendent Stan Rounds. It is intended that the funds will provide one $500 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who participated in marching band during his/her high school years who plans to major in music or music education at New Mexico State University in Fall 2018.

THE J. PAUL TAYLOR SCHOLARSHIP:  The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. has created the J. Paul Taylor Scholarship. It is intended that the funds will provide one $500 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to major in education at New Mexico State University in Fall 2018.

THE GREATER LAS CRUCES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DACC SCHOLARSHIP:  The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. has created the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce DACC scholarship. It is intended that the funds will provide one $500 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to attend Doña Ana Community College full time in the Fall of 2018.

THE S.A.V.E. SCHOLARSHIP:  The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with the Picacho Middle School Quilting Association has created this scholarship.  It is intended that the funds will provide one $1500 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to attend a New Mexico university, community college or vocational school in the Fall of 2018.

The S.A.V.E. SCHOLARSHIP FOR FORMER PICACHO MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS:  The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with the Picacho Middle School Quilting Association has created this scholarship for students that attended Picacho Middle School for at least 2 years during their middle schools years. It is intended that the funds will provide one $1000 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to attend a New Mexico university, community college or vocational school in the Fall of 2018.

The BONNIE BURN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP (League of Women Voter’s of Greater Las Cruces): The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Greater Las Cruces and the Reed Burn Family has created this scholarship in honor of Bonnie Burn.  It is intended that the funds will provide one $1000 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to major in education at New Mexico State University in the College of Education during the Fall of 2018.

The LCPS FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS SCHOLARSHIP: The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation, Inc. has created this scholarship. It is intended that the funds will provide one $1000 (non-renewable) scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Las Cruces school district who plans to attend any college, university or vocational school in New Mexico during the Fall of 2018.
